Graffiti - Putting your mark on a surface

 The idea of street art usually begins with putting your mark onto a surface. Most graffiti is created using forms of paint, most commonly spray paint. However some artists scratch or carve their designs into surfaces!

 The anonymous artist below chipped and carved away  picture of a face into a brick wall! Different layers and tones are created depending on the depth of the material removed...



 The piece below was created by an artist called Simon Periton using spray paint onto glass! I love the way the colours are vibrant yet retain the soft effect etched glass gives. When you look deeply into the glass you realise it is a scene of trees seen over a barbed wire fence. The subtlety of the piece really inspires me as spray paint is normally used in a very 'in your face' way.
